Who we are
Batteries4Better ("B4B," "we," "us") is a student-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Virginia (EIN 41-5043292). This policy covers batteries4better.org only: a set of static informational pages. There's no user login and no database on our end that stores visitor activity.
What this site does not do
We don't use cookies, and we don't run any analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts: no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, nothing similar. We don't build a profile of you or track you across other sites. If that ever changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
Fonts and scripts loaded from outside our site
This site loads its typeface from Google Fonts, and the homepage loads a small JavaScript animation library from the jsDelivr CDN. Requesting these resources sends your browser's IP address and standard request headers to Google's and jsDelivr's servers, the same as loading an image from any other website. We don't receive or see that data ourselves; it's governed by Google's Privacy Policy and jsDelivr's own terms.
Hosting
This is a static website with no server-side application. Our hosting provider may automatically log standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and reliability, the same way any web host does. We don't layer a separate analytics dashboard on top of that.
Donations
Clicking "Donate" takes you to a Google Form. Any information you enter there, and any payment you make, is collected and processed by Google Forms, governed by Google's own terms and privacy policy, not this one. We receive the responses submitted to that form to acknowledge your gift and issue a tax receipt.
Volunteer, regional director, and chapter applications
"Start a chapter" and "Apply to be a regional director" also open a Google Form. Information you submit there (like your name, email, and school or community) goes to the B4B core team to review and follow up on your application. We use it only for that purpose.
The contact form on our Get Involved page
The contact form at Get Involved doesn't send your information to us or to any server at all. When you click "Send message," your browser opens your own device's default email app with a pre-written message addressed to team@batteries4better.org. If you don't send that email, we never receive anything you typed.
Social media
Our Instagram and LinkedIn links take you to those platforms, which have their own privacy practices outside our control.
Children's privacy
B4B is a student-led organization, but this website does not knowingly collect personal information directly from visitors of any age. Information submitted through the linked Google Forms should be provided by the applicant or donor, with a parent or guardian's involvement where appropriate.
Changes to this policy
If what this site actually does changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
